Crucial BX100: Einsteiger-SSD verfügbar, aber noch kein Preisbrecher

Die zur CES 2015 angekündigte SSD-Serie BX100 von Crucial ist inzwischen im Handel verfügbar. Der Startschuss für die Markteinführung fiel ohne große Ankündigung. Die Preise bewegen sich nahe an den niedrigen Preisempfehlungen des Herstellers, liegen aber noch über jenen der beliebten MX100-Serie.

Gerade in der wichtigsten Disziplin, dem Preis pro Gigabyte, liegt die BX100-Serie noch hinter der MX100. Dies liegt zum einen am zur Zeit noch etwas höheren Preis und zum anderen an der geringeren Nutzkapazität. Die BX100-Reihe besitzt einen größeren „Reservespeicher“ (Spare Area) als die MX100 und bietet bei gleicher Flash-Speicher-Menge eine geringere Nutzkapazität von beispielsweise 120 statt 128 Gigabyte.

Nach aktuellem Preisstand aus dem Handel ist die BX100 noch nicht der erwartete „Preisbrecher“. Die MX100-Serie ist derzeit sowohl preislich als auch von der Ausstattung her eine bessere Alternative. Doch erfahrungsgemäß sinken die Straßenpreise mit besserer Verfügbarkeit der Produkte, sodass sich dies bald ändern kann.

Wo sich Crucials neue Einstiegsserie bei der Leistung einordnet, müssen erst noch unabhängige Tests aufzeigen. Da die Kombination aus SM2246EN-Controller und 16-nm-MLC-NAND von Micron aber kein neues Rezept ist, geben SSDs wie Adatas SP610 oder Mushkins Reactor bereits die grobe Richtung vor: Die Leistung ist nicht Spitzenklasse aber gemessen an anderen SATA-SSDs mehr als ausreichend für den Privatgebrauch.

Auch die für die höhere Leistungsklasse bestimmte MX200-Serie wird bereits von zahlreichen Händlern angepriesen, ist aber noch nicht verfügbar. Die Preise liegen noch oberhalb jener der Samsung 850 Evo, die Crucial sowohl bei Leistung als auch garantierter Haltbarkeit attackiert. Während die 850 Evo bisher nur als 2,5-Zoll-Modell geführt wird, sind bei der MX200 auch bereits Varianten der Formate M.2 und mSATA gelistet.
