Quake 3 Arena

Quake3Arena und auf dieser Engine basierende Programme gelten als die speicherabhängigsten Spiele überhaupt. Neben den Latenzzeiten spielt hier vor allem die reine Bandbreite eine entscheidende Rolle, weshalb Rambus mit seinen bis zu 4,2 GB/s hier zumeist die Führung übernimmt. Ein nützliches Tool, das das Benchmarken mit dieser Software enorm erleichtert, ist der Q3Bench. Hier können vordefinierte Configs sowie die gewünschten Auflösungen und Detailsstufen gewählt werden. Das Protokollieren der Ergebnisse übernimmt der fleißige Helfer ebenfalls.

In Quake 3 Arena kann sich das P4PB400-FL wieder nicht gegen die starke Konkurrenz mit Intel oder SiS-Chipsatz behaupten und stellt das langsamste DDR333 Mainboard im Test dar. Dennoch reicht die gebotene Leistung, um sich deutlich vor den Platinen mit DDR266 einzuordnen. Zu Intels momentanem Flaggschiff im DDR-Sektor, dem i845PE, fehlen aber erneut bis zu 3 Prozent.
