Auf der us-amerikanischen Website des Mainboardherstellers EPoX hat man heute die kommende KT600-Platine präsentiert. Das Board hört auf die Bezeichnung EP-8KRA2+ und zeichnet sich durch eine breit gefächerte Ausstattung aus.

The AGP 8X slot supports all the latest graphics cards and six PCI slots offer plenty of expansion potential. There are three DIMM sockets which can accommodate up to 3GB of system memory. In addition to the standard IDE port, the mainboard comes loaded with 2 additional IDE connectors from HPT-372 controller for RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 1.5 functions. On top of that, the onboard SATA controller provides two Serial ATA ports complete with RAID 0, 1 function. This brings the grand total of supported drives to ten.
For convenient peripheral connection, EP-8KRA2+ provides eight USB ports compliant with USB 2.0 (four at rear panel), and two 1394 ports with up to 400Mbps data transfer rate. The onboard AC`97 codec delivers not only 6CH audio but is equipped with intelligent "Jack Sensing", a user friendly feature to ensure those confusing audio jacks are plugged correctly.

EPoX¡¦s POST Port LED error-code display is a valuable troubleshooting device that shows the POST codes while the PC boots up. By looking up the codes in the manual, you can quickly detect the error without time-consuming process. Magic Health reports the system status for every boot up to help detect faults early. EPoX Power BIOS offers abundant excellent overclocking settings via BIOS. Taipei, Taiwan R.O.C. - 30.06.2003 - Nach dem Vorgänger KT400A wird EPoX jetzt ein Mainboard mit erweitertem Funktionsumfang des VIA Apollo KT600 Chipsatzes ins Rennen schicken. Das Modell EP-8KRA2+ wird dank der vielfältigen Erweiterungsmöglichkeiten das Herz vieler Kunden höher schlagen lassen. Der Chipsatz, bestehend aus KT600 Northbridge und VT8237 Southbridge, unterstützt aktuelle AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Prozessoren, DDR400 Speicher, bis zu acht USB 2.0 Ports, zwei IEEE 1394a Anschlüsse, AGP 8x und zwei PATA/ 133 taugliche IDE Schnittstellen. Desweiteren verfügt das EP-8KRA2+ über einen IDE RAID Kontroller HPT372 mit RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 1.5 Funktionalität und einem RAID 0,1 tauglichen SATA Kontroller. Somit können insgesamt bis zu zehn Laufwerke angeschlossen werden. Mit diesen Ausstattungsmerkmalen und aufgrund seiner Leistungsfähigkeit eignet sich das EP-8KRA2+ für Gaming oder Home Entertainment ebenso wie für Office Applikationen. Dadurch wird das neue EPoX Mainboard zu einer echten Allround-Lösung.
Mit dem AGP 8x Slot und den sechs PCI Steckplätzen bietet das Board ausreichend Platz für den Ausbau mit weiteren Steckkarten. Drei DIMM Sockel für DDR 266/333/400 SDRAM bieten Platz für bis zu drei Gigabyte Arbeitsspeicher. Für zusätzliche Peripherie bietet das EP-8KRA2+ bis zu acht USB 2.0 Anschlüsse, vier davon am ATX I/O-Shield, zwei IEEE1394 Anschlüsse und 10/100 Ethernet LAN. Der onboard AC“97 Codec liefert nicht nur 6 Kanal Audio sondern ist noch mit einem benutzerfreundlichem Feature, dem intelligenten „Jack Sensing“ ausgestattet. Steckt ein Kunde zum Beispiel ein Mikrofon in den Kopfhörerausgang, erhält er eine entsprechende Fehlermeldung.
EPoX liefert wie gewöhnlich wieder ein optimierungsfreundliches Motherboard. Der Anwender, der seinen Prozessor an die Grenzen der Leistungsfähigkeit führen möchte, findet durch die Debugfunktion in Form einer integrierten P.O.S.T Karte ein wertvolles Diagnosehilfsmittel. Auf zwei Sieben-Segment-LEDs werden die während des Bootvorgangs vom BIOS gelieferten P.O.S.T Kodes als hexadezimale Zahlen dargestellt. Das EPoX PowerBIOS bietet dem Anwender Übertaktungsmöglichkeiten mittels einfacher BIOS-Einstellung. Damit sich ein eventuell durchzuführendes BIOS Updates für den Endkunden möglichst einfach und gefahrlos gestaltet, liefert EPoX das Windows Flashprogramm Magic Flash mit.
Das EP-8KRA2+ wird ab Mitte Juli zu einem empfohlenen Endkundenpreis von 109 EUR inklusive der gesetzlichen Mehrwertsteuer im Handel verfügbar sein.
