Jeff Wilcox: Apple-CPU-Entwickler wechselt zurück zu Intel

Nach über acht Jahren wechselt einer von Apples CPU-Chef-Entwicklern zu Intel. Dort war er zuvor bereits einmal für drei und weitere zehn Jahre angestellt, fortan jedoch in weitaus höherer Position als Intel Fellow und Leiter des Client SoC Architecture team in the Design Engineering Group.

Dieser Posten umfasst laut seinem Linked-in-Profil alle SoC-Entwicklungen im Client-Bereich bei Intel und ist damit letztlich genau das, was er zuletzt bei Apple mitgemacht hat. Die Ironie hierbei ist, dass er bei Apple half Intel im Notebook abzulösen und nun bei Intel versuchen wird, dies wieder umzukehren.

Leader of the Client SoC Architecture team in the Design Engineering Group at Intel. Responsible for the architecture of all SoCs for all Intel client segments. Previously Director of the Mac System Architecture team that included all system architecture, signal integrity and power integrity for Mac systems. Led the transition for all Macs to Apple Silicon beginning with M1 chip, and developed the SoC and system architecture behind the T2 coprocessor before that.
