noch mal Vmware3.0 Frage

Da ich bis jetzt keine Antword habe von auch Profis nehme ich an das ich vergessen worden bin ,also noch mal das selbe.


Möchte gerne eine Anleitung in Deutsch, wie ich Linux Mandrake 8.1 unter VMWare 3.0 installiere. Die englische Anleitung kapier ich nicht!

To install Linux-Mandrake 8.0 in a virtual machine:

Insert the Linux-Mandrake 8.0 CD in the CD-ROM drive and click the Power On button.
Follow the installation steps as you would for a physical machine. Be sure to make the choices outlined in the following steps.
Use the Expert installer.
In the partitioning step, unless you have special requirements, let Linux-Mandrake auto-allocate the space.
When selecting a boot loader, use LILO with text menu. Do not use the graphical version of LILO. It causes the virtual machine to hang.
On the "Select a Graphic Card" screen, choose Other > Generic VGA compatible.
Near the end of the installation, after files have been copied, you reach the monitor setup screen. Choose Super VGA, 800x600 @ 56 Hz.
When the installer asks whether to start X when you reboot, answer No.
Install VMware Tools in your guest operating system.
Note: With a Linux-Mandrake 8.0 guest, you should install VMware Tools from the Linux console. Do not start X until you have installed VMware Tools and carried out the final step.

Be sure you are logged in as root (su), then enter the following commands to set up a symbolic link to the correct XFree86 configuration file.
cd /etc
ln -s /etc/X11/XF86Config.vm XF86Config
Use the startx command to start your X server.

Eigentlich brauche ich nur Infos zu dieser VGA-Geschichte und VMware Tools wie mann es installeirt. Alles andere weiß ich schon!

Na dann versuchen wir es mal:

"When selecting a boot loader,..."
LILO mit Text-Menü auswählen, NICHT graphisch -> VMWare wird hängen bleiben.

"On the "Select a Graphic Card" screen, ..."
Dort "Other" wählen und und dann "generic VGA compatible".

"Near the end of the installation, ..."
Als Monitor wählst du "Super VGA, 800x600 @ 56 Hz".

Du wirst gefragt ob beim Reboot gleich das X Window System gestartet werden soll -> NEIN!!!!

Dann folgt der Reboot deines Linux Systems (in VMWare), also nicht des Windows Systems.

Du landest im Textmodus und musst dich als root einloggen.

Dort musst du dann "vmtools" installieren. Vielleicht gibt es, ähnlich dem Programm yast von SuSE, ein textbasiertes Programm mit dem sich nachträglich Programme installieren und deinstallieren lassen. Da kenn ich Mandrake nicht.

Dann führst du die drei Befehle aus wie in der englischen Anleitung steht (immer noch als root eingeloggt).

ERST DANN darfst du mit startx das X Window System starten (geht dann in Zukunft mit jedem User).

Ist doch gar nicht schwer :-)
