Container.
Backups.
In dem Container ist nur Nextcloud mit seinen Dependencies. Die Config Datei und Datenbank solltest du persistent außerhalb liegen haben und in X anderen Containerumgebungen (Oder auch ohne Container).
Die eigentlichen Daten sollten nochmal getrennt liegen.
Backups brauchst du eig. nur von den Daten und der Datenbank, den "hat ewig gedauert" Teil kannst du dir durch Kopieren der Config Datei auch sparen

es geht erstmal um ubuntu conainer update upgrade auf lts version nextcloud wurde noch dazu geschmissen.
mit @madmax2010 post zu containern und nextcloud ist nur gemeint, dass der conainer eine config hat und die daten der nextcloud selbst auf einen seperaten speicher fließen aus der an den conainer gekoppelt ist.

Ich glaube, ihr vewechselt das hier mit Docker. Ein LXC-Container ist eine stinknormale Linux-Installation. Also wenn hier nicht mit Mountpoints auf den Host gearbeitet wurde, befinden sich alle Daten im Container. Das unterscheidet sich nicht von einer Installation in einer VM oder auf Blech.

Du kannst von Pi-Hole ein Backup machen und dann nach dem Install einspielen.

Insgesamt scheinst du aber ein Setup zu haben, weißt aber nicht so Recht, wir man es aktuell hält. Da wäre es ratsam sich hier ein wenig einzuarbeiten.

Du machst Backup in der Pi-Hole Oberfläche und lädst du das herunter. Google mach nach Pi-Hole Teleporter.

Dabei lernt man auch was, wenn man selbst suchen muss.

Also ich persönlich würde mir nicht die Mühe machen, da groß was "NEU einzurichten". Sofern du da nicht extrem viele Sonderoptionen eingestellt hast, nimm doch einfach das tteck script (https://helper-scripts.com). Such da nach pi-hole und führ einen Shell Befehl aus. Dauert 5 Minuten.

Noch besser wäre natürlich, wenn du einen Docker-LXC nutzt, Portainer und Watchtower reinpackst und darüber dann Pi-Hole als Stack (docker compose) reinholst. Portainer verwaltet deine Docker-Container bzw. Images und Watchtower aktualisiert sie automatisch.

Außerdem kannst du dann z.B. Container wie NextCloud auch via Docker reinhängen und die Datenverzeichnise AUSLAGERN. Dann kannste bei ner Neuinstallation von Proxmox (z.B. von 7.4 auf 8.1) einfach den Docker-LXC auf das Verzeichnis zeigen lassen und schon laufen alle Services wieder. So lassen sich Backups auch viel kleiner halten, weil nicht das ganze OS mit gesichert werden muss, sondern NUR die Daten.

Ich hab mir sogar ein Desktop-Linux (debian 12) mit xrdp als Docker-Image bereitgelegt, so kann ich einige Sachen nutzen, die zwingend ein grafisches User-Interface benötigen.

Man macht doch ein Upgrade von 7.4 auf 8.1 und keine Neuinstallation. Geht auch schnell.

Ich hatte es so verstanden, dass der TE den LXC-Container manuell installiert und eingerichtet hat. So mit apt-get install pi-hole, etc. Das müsste ja auch passieren, bevor ich das Backup wieder herstellen kann. Ich würde mir die Mühe nicht machen und das Script von tteck nehmen, um den LXC einzurichten. Das Teleporter-Backup kann ja dann da rein wieder hergestellt werden.

Das hängt von der Parametern ab. Aber wenn beim Update was schief geht oder Hardware kaputt geht, gilt das genau so.

Die Kernaussage(n) die ich treffen wollte war:

Denn, hat man diese, kann man die Nextcloud Installation auf einem anderen System sehr schnell nachstellen. Betriebssystem und Bibliotheken sind dabei nun Schall und Rauch, und es ist egal ob das ganze in einem LXC Container, in einer VM, oder in WSL unter Windows betreibt
2. Man sollte davon Backups haben

So Freunde, hab jetzt alles abgeschossen 🤣 .
Proxmox bootet zwar noch, allerdings kann ich nicht mehr über LAN auf die Oberfläche zugreifen.

Pi Hole hatte ich neu installiert per Debian 12 Container, lief wunderbar.
Nach dem Versuch, Proxmox auf eine höhere Version zu ziehen, hat sich die grafische Oberfläche verabschiedet.
Besser gesagt der grub Bootmanager.
Bei dem Update wurde gefragt, wo grub installiert ist, ich wusste es nicht und habe "local" angegeben.

Hatte mich dabei an dieses Video gehalten:

Allerdings kam dort keine grub abfrage, diverse abfragen waren auch anders.

Hier mal der letzte Screen vor dem Reboot:

Nachdem ich Proxmox über den Browser nicht mehr aufrufen konnte, habe ich Monitor+Tastatur u. Maus an den NUC angeschlossen und konnte mich zumindest anmelden.
Hab dann "apt install grub-efi-amd64" installiert.
Leider keine Besserung.

Kann ich die Maschine noch retten? 🙂

Hast du ZFS als Dateisystem verwendet? Oder ext4? BTRFS?

Der Check-Prozess vorm Upgrade war soweit grün? Oder musstest du noch was anpassen?

Es gab einen error, ich sollte ein paar Befehle ausführen, die Pakete gelöscht haben.
Nach dem löschen der Pakete lief die Installation durch.

Es Bootet ja auch, nur kann ich Proxmox nicht mehr aufrufen.
