File-based encryption Android 7.0 or newer

My question is whether the file-based encryption from version 7.0 or newer safe is ? When I make a factory-reset of the smartphone, are the Keys that I used for the encryption of the files deleted?

It mentions a study concerning Android versions up to 4.3 though, but the date of the article is April 2017, so i guess the problem is still there.
