I have a question :

Comparing some IPS models like Dell U2312Hm or Asus PA238Q against a fast classic TN with 1 or 2ms to responsive time or some 3D models but in 60Hz mode, the level of smooth in game is identical in a situation with the same frame rate ? Or playing in the IPS is like to view less frames or a sort of stuttering effect or excessive tearing ?

You must regard that there are different sorts of speeds - grey to grey and black to white. So even with a TN Panel you will never get "real 1ms". Anyway you will also be fine with most of the modern IPS Panels.

I know it, but a super fast monitor like Benq XL2420T that can do 5ms gtg rise + fall......in 60Hz mode have the same smoot level of Dell U2312hm ?

Or Dell will seems to have less frame rate ?

The BenQ is better and mor smooth, especially in fast games like Quake, Unreal Tournament or if you flying a jet in Battlefield 3.
I´ll never buy IPS or 60 Hz for games anymore, 120 Hz is realy worthwhile for games and i dont like the "glittercoating" on IPS.

yes but in 120Hz is normal that 120hz is smoother.
i speak about fast tn in 60Hz mode.

To your questions: No and no.
A bad response time doesn't result in stuttering, but in motion blur, similar to the effect that's used in many games nowadays.
Even with same fps, a slower responding panel will show more motion blur. With higher fps and faster movement on the screen, the impression of blur will be more prominent on the slower screen.

Additionally, an IPS will show higher input lag which adds to a worse playibility when compared to a TN panel.

If you prefer a faster responding or a more color accurate picture is completely up to you, as I prefer the latter but can completely understand the opposite view.

ok thank you for the answer.

But ...... Can the ghosting effects and overdrive trailing reduce the smootness ? Like to have less frame rate ?
