Core i7: DDR3 (1066, 1333, 1600) Benchmarks

Für diejenigen die noch den passenden Speicher suchen hat Techreport ein netten Speicherbenchmark durchgeführt.

Ein Auszug aus dem Fazit:

Of course, many enthusiasts who spring for a Core i7-920 will be looking to overclock by increasing processor's base clock speed. Turning up the base clock allows for faster memory speeds, and given that the 920's memory bus multipliers are limited to 6X or 8X, you'll actually need DIMMs capable of running at faster than 1066MHz if you intend to push the base clock above 178MHz. Whether it's worth springing for DDR3-1600 modules over more affordable DDR3-1333 DIMMs will depend entirely on the applications you use and just how high you intend to push the base clock. You'll need to reach at least 200MHz to run 1600MHz DIMMs at full speed, and not every Core i7 motherboard is up to that task.

In the end, Core i7 processors will certainly achieve higher levels of performance when paired with faster memory, but you don't lose all that much—particularly with games and common desktop applications—by running slower, more affordable DIMMs. That's good to know for folks looking at the relatively high prices of fancy triple-channel DDR3-1600 kits. However, if you're going to overclock, it's worth having the extra headroom that faster modules can provide.

Edit: Mittlerweile lädt sie und beschreibt, soweit ich das verstehe, dass sich der Aufpreis von DDR3-1333 auf -1600 derzeit (!) nicht lohnt, weil der Unterschied wohlwollend um die 5%punkte ausfällt- in Spielen, für die man wiederum eh keinen i7 benötigt. Ganz im Gegenteil zum Preis. Dieser ist deutlich höher als nur 5%...
Habe mir heute noch DDR2-1000 bestellt und ziele wohl eher auf einen Q9550 oder Deneb Phenom 2 ab.

Ja ist ja nun gut, wir wissen das die Seite lädt^^

Zurück zum Thema! Bissel realitätsfern die Auflösung, da war das Ergebnis klar. Aber selbst da gibt es im Mittel nicht mal 5% Unterschied. Spielst jedoch in normaler Auflösung,1280 oder 1650 mit allen Details, dann wandert der Vorteil irgendwo gegen Null. Man könnte eine Grenzwertbetrachtung anstreben^^

Auf der 2. Gaming-Benchmark-Seite sind ein paar Benches in 1920, 4xAA usw. durchgeführt, dort sind es auch noch (oder nur?) 1-2 FPS.

Der Grund für DDR3-1600 dürfte somit wohl eher OC-Potenzial sein. Bis wieviel GHz kann man ein i7 920 denn mit DDR3-1333 Speicher übertakten?
