außerdem vermutet hardocp:

was also im klartext nichts anderes heißt, als dass "msi bei diesem prescott-board anscheinend (und wie es aussieht mit neuem und altem bios) eine dynamische vocre-verwaltung eingebaut hat": sind takt- u.- last niedrig, nimmt das board die vcore runter. last und/oder takt sind hoch - board nimmt vcore hoch."
wer also ein solches board sein eigen nennt, und es evtl. demnächst - und sei es auch nur versuchshalber - mit einem prescott 2,8 ausrüsten wollte, sollte also tunlichst die finger weglassen von bios-updates, sonst blieben nur die gefixten msi-voreinstellungen.

den prescott 2,8e mit auf oc 3,5 gig gab/gibt es hier:

läuft aber nur so auf ABIT IC7-MAX3 und MSI 865PE Neo. Nicht auf ABIT AI7.

und auf p4p800 und p4c800 soll der prescott 2,8 vorerst überhaupt nicht zu laufen zu bekommen gewesen sein:
"and the Asus P4P800 and P4C800 motherboards would not operate with our 2.8GHz Prescott CPU. Checking the the Asus website for BIOS updates left us high and dry."
was aber wünschenswert wäre, denn, wie man ausführt,
"This 2.8E is truly carrying on the legacy left by the 2.4C. Of course, the increased power consumption of the Prescott does make watercooling almost a necessity for enthusiast operations in our opinion."
deutet es sich schwer an, das der prescott 2,8e der nächste und würdige nachfolger des 2,4c alss oc-prozzessor werden könnte (sobald die preise weit genug gefallen sind...*g*), hinreichende kühlung vorausgesetzt (h20).
fsb260 x14 = 3640mhz fände ich schon mal ganz nett für den anfang, "zumal es zu bedenken gilt, dass die prescott-architektur oberhalb von ca. 3,4 gig anfängt, die vorteile der längeren pipeline zu entfalten": "prescott 3,6 gig sind halt schon etwas mehr wert als es northwood 3,6gig waren...." (o-ton p57)
