DES-1048G Frage zu Port auf Rückseite!

Guten Abend liebe Community!
Ich habe eine Frage zum D-Link DES-1048G und da ist an der Rückseite ein 9-poliger Sub-D Port der "Diagnostics RS-232 DTE,9600,N,8.1" heißt. Meine Frage: Für was ist dieser Port gut? Warum braucht man den?

Das sagt das Handbuch dazu ....

Im Manual mal auf die Seite 22 blättern und das Stichwort "Switch Management" aufsuchen. Dort steht es bis ins Kleinste beschrieben.
