LIAN LI PC-Q16 MINI ITX CASE REVIEW.
Lian Li has a beautiful looking new Mini-ITX case on their hands. We took a closer look to see if the PC-Q16 case is worth your hard earned cash.
The front of the case houses a 140mm fan, which keeps solid airflow through the case from front to back. A nicely built filter is included as well.
The filter on the front case fan looks and feels well built.
The back side of the case displays the included power supply, as well as the IO panel (when a board is installed).
The bottom of the PC-Q16 displays the truly small profile of the case, which after all is the reason you’d pick this up. The overall dimensions are 199 x 160 x 290mm (7.83″ x 6.29″ x 11.41″ – WxHxD). It has small feet which match the style of the case. The chrome on black is carried throughout with the power button as well. The feet do leave a little to be desired, but then again I am getting a bit too used to MNPCTech’s billet feet…
The PC-Q16 is kept to a very minimalist, clean design, but it really works for the little case. The front panel has two USB 3.0 ports, which should be enough when added to the ports you will have in the back.
A side shot of the case reveals the design and layout of internals, and it becomes evident that this is very well engineered.
Moving to the internals, the PC-Q16 is unique in that Lian Li decided to do away with a 5.25″ bay all together, and instead used well placed 2.5″ SSD and 3.5″ HDD cages. This cage supports up to three 2.5″ drives.
This is a view of the 3.5″ bay inside the front of the case. Everything is kept nice and compact, and I really liked the layout inside.
The included power supply is a 300 watt 80 Plus certified SFX PSU. Considering what you get for the price, the case really includes a nice array of features. Granted you won’t be running a powerhouse system off 300 watts, but it gets the job done.
The motherboard tray supports Mini-ITX, but it is important to note that a dedicated GPU will not fit in this case.
The side panels on the PC-Q16 are really slick. They have small pegs, which make for quick and easy removal of both side panels.
This is where the side panel attaches along the edges of the case. It really is a great design.
Lian Li once again does a good job including all of the necessary accessories.
The Lian Li PC-Q16 is available for $159. That may appear to be a steep price for such a small case, but I really think those who are in the market for a small form factor case will be very pleased with the PC-Q16. The case is clearly well engineered, has a variety of functional and aesthetic features, and includes a 300 watt power supply. I certainly had a difficult time coming up with any faults here.
Raves!
Well designed Mini-ITX case
Small footprint and light weight
300 watt 80 plus power supply included
Great side panel design for easy access
Clean aesthetics
Good cooling thanks to the 140mm front case fan
Wish List!
Room for a dedicated graphics card (though this does keep the profile very small)

Hmmm. What do you mean by “A dedicated GPU will not fit in this case” ? Case length? I’ve seen somewhere a short version GTX6series GPU is coming to market (I’ll fact check that)..though I think it’s a two space due to the cooling fans.. Custom waterblock anyone. Looks like a solid case, no doubt. The “SFF certified” PSU reference makes me laugh a bit…But honestly, GAAAK, those feet!
