Nach einem Update startet die Xubuntu-Anmeldung nur noch in Grub-Auflösung

Habe mir eigentlich extra Xubuntu 18.04 als LTS-Version installiert, damit ich am System auf lange Sicht nichts ändern muss. Irgendwas ist jetzt aber nach einem Update schief gelaufen: Die Linux-Bootmeldungen sowie die grafische Desktop-Anmeldung starten nicht mehr automatisch in Full HD sondern übernehmen stattdessen die Grub-Auflösung. Als ich diese geändert hatte auf 640x480, lief auch alles Nachfolgende auf 640x480. Was mich wundert ist, dass in der /etc/grub/default nicht etwa GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD angegeben ist. Diese Zeile könnte meiner Meinung ein solches Verhalten auslösen, ist dort aber nicht vorhanden.
Habe natürlich auch update-grub laufen lassen.

Hat noch jemand das Problem? Ist schon irgendwie seltsam. Weiß da jetzt auch nicht weiter.

Erzähle mal etwas mehr zu deiner Grafikkarte. Könnte es sein , das der Treiber für Diese nicht mehr lädt ? Und somit das System in der minimal Auflösung, die von grub benutzt wird, weiterläuft.
Du hast schon die Logfiles geschaut ( inbesondere XOrg.log) und dir ist nichts aufgefallen ?
 
Eine auf dem Mainboard integrierte Intel-Grafik. Ich habe den Eindruck, dass der Treiber geladen wird. Zunächst übernahm auch der User-Desktop die niedrige Auflösung. Jedoch kann ich dort auf Full HD umstellen, was er sich auch merkt. Nach dem Einloggen hat man nun Full HD, davor aber nicht.
