The DJI EV50 is a lift-and-cruise eVTOL cargo aircraft built for medium and long-range delivery, pairing eight vertical-lift rotors with three pusher propellers, a 23-foot (7-meter) wingspan, a 110-pound (50-kilogram) payload, and a 93-mile (150-kilometer) range. That configuration marks a clean break from every multirotor DJI has sold before.
DJI’s press release confirms the EV50 as the company’s first eVTOL delivery drone but stays light on specifications. The detailed numbers come from materials DJI published in China, reported by Italian drone publication Quadricottero. According to those specs, the aircraft measures 12.1 feet (3.7 meters) long and reaches a top speed of 99 mph (160 km/h) unloaded. Its 270-liter cargo bay measures 59 by 15.7 by 17.7 inches (1,500 x 400 x 450 mm), sized for standardized cargo modules.
The engineering choices read like a checklist for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) certification. The eleven-motor layout tolerates motor failures. The pitot tube is redundant and self-heating to prevent icing at altitude. The eight lift rotors lock into an aerodynamic position during cruise flight to cut drag, and an emergency parachute comes standard. Two operators can fold the aircraft down to 7.9 x 4.6 x 3.9 feet (2.4 x 1.4 x 1.2 meters) in five minutes without tools, and the platform supports DJI’s Payload SDK for third-party sensors.
