this is a real listing of a voodoo firefly 003 concept machine. only 12 exist in the world. hp spent $2million developing this project and showed it off once at CES 2009. everyone thought that was the end, but yet here it is now on ebay of all places! this world's crazy!
i acquired this item in a huge trade year and years ago, i traded all my rare and valuable computers at the time for this one unit. i'm still not sure how i ever came across the opportunity to get this item. i almost consider it some sort of black magic!
this computer has an ES Intel Core 2 Quad QX9200 2.4ghz chip, 4gb of Concept Corsair Dominator SO-DIMM DDR3 memory, Dual ATI Radeon Mobility 3870 512mb GPUS on a single board, a heavily trimmed down build of windows vista on its special robson drive, and a 250gb hdd. and of course the main party feature, the secondary screen in the lower bezel! although personally, my favorite easter egg has got to be the bios fan mode settings; the full speed profile is called 747 like the jumbo jet haha!
in my own testing, i put my own drive and memory in to preserve the original hardware, and found that you can safely run win7 on it and upgrade the memory to 8gb, that way you can have way more compatibility with games and software.
the speakers sound great, and the trackpad is very unique where you can keep your middle finger in place to aim, and tap your index or ring finger to left and right click when gaming! this was truly meant to be the worlds very best gaming laptop in early 2009!
everything works beautifully, but given it's a concept machine that was only meant to survive for 12 minutes on a stage floor, it was never built to last. i had to reapply adhesive tape on the inner bezel to keep it in place, and some of the screws are binded up and can't be undone. but the fact that it even still exists at all is extremely lucky!
no battery included, but it should be able to take any HDX battery of the time like a hdx 18 or dv7. i haven't tested. it does come with a 350w power brick from a VoodooDNA Firebird 802 though.
the price is a meme, but the listing is not. if you're serious or want to know more, you can send an offer or a message! i do love a good chat! who knows, maybe you'll perform some black magic of your own! though if you buy it for anywhere near the asking price i'll personally fly myself out to you to hand deliver it haha.
