Als ich noch Windows-Only unterwegs war, also bis maximal 2006, war ich wie einige andere hier auch mit MPC unterwegs. Dann unter Linux mplayer entdeckt, später zu mpv migriert. Macht auch alles, was ich brauche und ich habe mir die Tastenkürzel so zurechtgelegt, wie ich sie brauche, z.B. Abspielgeschwindigkeiten und ein Hotkey zur gedrehten Darstellung (damit Hochkant-Videos den ganzen Bildschirm nutzen :-) ).

Was die Unterschiede zu VLC angeht; ich finde VLC zu hakelig und behäbig. Allein schon dass der Positions-Schieber bei kurzen Videos wild herumzappelt macht mich kirre. Das einzige, wozu ich VLC tatsächlich benötige, ist das Anzeigen und Navigieren von DVD-Menüs, damit ich sehe, was ich da mit mpv angucke. ^^

mpv ist absolut verlässlich und ich liebe das Ding dafür, dass es einwandfrei mit dem Terminal (TTY) funktioniert. Nicht nur Wayland und X11.

Nicht vergessen: Hardwarebeschleunigung an, bei 4K mit 60 Frames und hoher Farbtiefe merkt man es sogar mit Linux.

PS: Gefällt mir auch optisch, in der Schlichtheit, besser als VLC.

Seit Jahren MPC-HC, früher MPC-HD, auf dem Plasma Desktop MPV und wenn Einstellungen notwendig sind VLC.

Ich bin tatsächlich auch erst diese Woche auf diesen MPV-Player gestoßen, nachdem ich zwei Tage erfolglos damit zugebracht hatte ein 4K-HDR Video auf meinem PC-Monitor ordentlich dargestellt zu bekommen.
Windows 11 mit HDR Unterstütztem und kalibriertem Monitor ist ja vorhanden - aber dennoch hat VLC es nicht geschafft das Video ordentlich anzuzeigen. VLC war bis dato mein Lieblingsplayer. Das Problem war, dass das HDR-Video immer zu dunkel dargestellt wurde für mein empfinden. Natürlich war das Video korrekt codiert

Mit MPV als Player: Alles wunderbar. Es sieht aus wie ich mir das vorstelle!

Hättest dir viel Zeit sparen können wenn du den Windows-internen Player benutzt hättest.

Definitiv der Beste. Gibt es allerdings leider nur für Windows. Für Linux nutze ich da den SMPlayer. Der ist dem MPC-HC noch am ähnlichsten.

ich bin zum großteil unter linux unterwegs wenn videos abgespielt werden, somit sind eher vlc und mplayer-derivate vertreten. den smplayer habe ich auch lange benutzt, wobei ich inzwischen doch viel mit vlc mache.
mpv kam aber zuletzt immer wieder mal als fallback zum einsatz und fiel dabei positiv auf.

Ging und geht mir unter Windows genauso.

Wusste nicht, dass mpv auch auf einem TTY funktioniert. Grad ausprobiert, super.

Der Player ist aber seeehr einfach. Der hat ja gar nichts, nicht mal Einstellungen als solche. Tonspuren umschalten, Untertitel und sonst nichts.

Etwas Offtopic. Aber alle die auf Windows unterwegs sind und nach einem HDR fähigen Player (insbesondere Dolby Vision) suchen kann ich nur "Energy Media Player" empfehlen. Gibt es meines Wissens nur im Microsoft Store - ist aber eine der wenigen Perlen des Microsoft Stores.

Man muss hierfür nur das Windows Update + das Dolby Vision Addon aus dem Microsoft Store installieren.

@Ja_Ge Also bei mir funktioniert es reibungslos mit dem Energy Media Player + LG G5. Sobald ich HDR in Windows aktiviere bekomme ich vom TV auch die Bestätigung eingeblendet das Dolby Vision aktiv ist.
