Altes Mainboard bootet nicht vom PCI-Kontroller.

Moin,

hab da ein altes Mainboard. Hab jetzt mal meinen Promise TX2 133 Controller reingeschraubt und ´ne 160GB Platte rangemacht.

Läuft soweit alles. Leider läßt sich im BIOS keine Option einstellen das ich das Board überreden könnte von der Festplatte zu booten die am Controller hängt. Egal ob HHD1-4, oder SCSI usw. eingestellt wird, das Board will nicht.

Mit allen anderen moderneren Boards funzt es einbahnfrei.


Was ich mir jetzt überlegt hab, kann man nicht irgendwie ´ne Bootfloppy erstellen/runterladen, von der eben gebootet wird und automatisch dann weiter von der Festplatte booten läßt?

eventuell hilft ein aktuelleres Bios, die beiden zur zusammenarbeit zu bewegen

Bios ist das letzte drauf was es gab.

hmmm, vieleicht hilfts ja die OnBoard IDE Ports abzuschalten oder brauchst du alle 8 Ports ?
an den Promise kannste ja auch CD-Rom u.s.w. anschliessen

Note: Most motherboards will start scanning the PCI Bus from PCI 1 to the last PCI and based on this it will normally boot from the first bootable device it scans. Current Phoenix or AMI Bios will allow you to select a Bios Boot Spec compliant device regardless of the order in which the motherboard Bios scans the PCI Bus.


Note: Always make certain that the Promise controller Bios Post during your motherboard bios posting.

An den IDE Ports hängt kein Laufwerk.

Wegen die BIOS des Controllers muß ich mal gucken, aber wie schon geschrieben hat er sonst nie Probleme gemacht und ich habe schon einige viele davon verbaut.

evtl hat das bios des controllers eine option, dass von ihm gebootet wird. ich glaube mit meinem highpoint raidcontroller gab es damals ein ähnliches problem.

Hab zwar schon so ziemlich alles geflasht von Graka, Mainboard über dbox2 usw. ,aber ich finde keine Hinweise wie man diesen Controller flaschen kann.
Kannst du mir da kur zauf die Sprünge helfen!?

Das Bios der Karte aufgerufen und die Platte als Bootplatte eingerichtet, evtl ein Array erstellt?

Das Flashen eines Controllers geht genauso.
Flashprogramm und Biosfile runterladen und auf Diskette speichern.
Von Diskette booten und eben das Flashprogramm starten.
z.B. PTIflash für Promise-Controller (ist mit dabei beim Download unten)

Danke hat geklappt.

Hab grad gemerkt das ich garnicht fragen hätte brauchen. Beim öffnen des Downloads des Bios-Files habe ich festgestellt das dort das Flashprogramm mit bei ist, steht allerdings nirgendwo auf der HP, zumindestens nicht bei diesem Download. Readme ist auch dabei.

Mal sehen ob ich die Platte jetzt zum booten bekomme.
