Die gemessene Leitung scheint von der Messung her in Ordnung und Fehlerfrei zu sein.

der Punkt ist ja auch: das ist völlig egal!
man nimmt sich eine "einfache" Messung und führt die an so vielen Stellen (zwischen so vielen Endpunkten) wie möglich durch und sucht nach dem "Ausreißer", darum geht es doch.

hast du (oder jemand anderes hier) denn schonmal ausgerechnet, wie hoch die Datenrate bei den Videos und der VLC ruckelnden VLC Wiedergabe überhaupt ist? Nur damit man überhaupt mal einen Anhalt hat, über welche Größenordnung wir überhaupt reden? Sowas meine ich auch mit strukturiertem Vorgehen.

Sorry, hier ist doch echt 90% verbrannte Zeit. Nur weil Netflix und co mit ihrem komprimierten "4k" funktionierten heißt das nicht dass VLC bei einer high-bitrate 1080p nicht abschmieren kann.

VLC zeigt diese infos über CTRL+I an.
 
Ich hätt ja schon bei der ersten Messung über deinen USB-LAN Dongle mal getestet, wie damit das Buffering vom VLC-Player ist. Wenn du da schon Aussetzer hast, brauchste gar nicht weiter testen und wir sind bei dem, was ich schon in #29 erwähnte.
 
Also... Um hier mal etwas Klarheit reinzubringen (die eigentlich aus den bisher geschriebenen Beiträgen bei gründlichem Lesen mMn durchaus hätte vorhanden sein können):

Die bisher hier geposteten Messungen:
allesamt LAN-gebunden an den reinen Verlegekabeln A & B (Endgerät zu Endgerät mit Verlegekabel als Strecke).

Die Endkonfiguration (bei der das Heimnetzwerk schwächelt)

Ziel-PC -> Verlegekabel A -> Patchpanel -> 1 Gbit/s Switch -> Verlegekabel B -> FritzBox 7490 (Access Point) -> WLAN (2,4 & 5) über ein Stockwerk.

Von dieser Strecke wurden bisher im Thread gemessen:

Diese scheinen wohl in Ordnung zu sein. Also liegt es schon mal nicht daran. Dann geht's nun weiter mit Messungen direkt hinter der FritzBox 7490 / Access Point im WLAN.

Also vom W-Lan 5GHz über ein Stockwerk würde ich mich verabschieden, gedanklich. 5G W-Lan ist auf eine quasi Sichtverbindung angewiesen. Aus meiner Erfahrung raus reicht da auch schon ein Mensch, der ungünstig im Feld hängt, damit der Empfang massiv einbricht. Ich persönlich würde keine Stockwerkübergreifenden W-Lans und maximal eine dünne Zwischenwand einplanen und das dann nur mit 2,4G.
 
Update:

Gerade direkt hinter der alten FB 7490 gemessen in der LAN-Strecke, auch da sind die Werte mindestens bei 930 Mbit/s oder höher im iperf-Test.

Bis auf das WLAN kommt das der Endkonfiguration also am nähesten:

Wenn ich jetzt noch das WLAN an der alten 7490 einschalte und mit dem Laptop nochmal ein Stockwerk höher ins OG gehe, dann wäre das die Ausgangssituation, bei der die Videos übers LAN geruckelt haben.

Ich denke, damit lässt sich jetzt vermutlich schon ziemlich sicher eingrenzen, dass es wohl an der WLAN-Verbindung zwischen 7490 im EG und meinem Zielort im OG liegen wird, oder?

Ich habe im OG keine LAN-Leitung, deshalb kann ich dort nicht messen. Müsste also den iperf-Test über WLAN messen.
 
Probiere die Verbindung mal nur auf 2,4G. Ich persönlich schalte an meinem Telefon auch 5G aus, jedesmal suchte sich das Telefon dann bei der Stuhldrehung wieder eine neue Route mit schlechter Geschwindigkeit.

Also im normalen Internetbetrieb (YouTube, Netflix, Downloads etc. PP) keinesfalls. Aber der Zugriff über das WLAN vom OG aus auf die Videodateien innerhalb des Heimnetzwerks schon.

Da wir aber ja nun alle kabelbasierten / LAN-Wege praktisch als Fehlerquelle ausgeschlossen haben, kann es eigentlich nur noch an der WLAN Verbindung liegen.

2 Tests kann ich noch versuchen:

  • 1x WLAN direkt vor der alten 7490 / Access Point im EG. Quasi mit voller Sicht direkt auf die FB.
  • 1x im OG (Endzustand).

iperf Done.

Am Zielort im OG mit WLAN zur FB 7490 im EG habe ich also Laptop -> PC im Durchschnitt knapp 100 Mbit/s. Umgekehrt PC -> Laptop nur knapp 60 mbit/s. Und das reicht demnach also nicht aus, um ein 1080p-Video ruckelfrei übers Heimnetzwerk abzuspielen?

Lade Mediainfo runter und schau dir die Bitrate an.

1:1 Videostreams von BluRays können da auch gut mal 30-40Mbit/s haben. Wenn dein WLAN noch wer anders nutzt, kann das schon ein Problem sein. Was es noch sein kann, hab ich dir schon gepostet.

Ansonsten, wie ich auch schon schrieb: Hattest du per LAN denn jetzt das Abspielen über den VLC-Player getestet? Hast du einen anderen Player getestet? VLC aktuell?

Edit: Ganz oben in Mediainfo steht auch meist die (durchschnittliche) Gesamtbitrate des kompletten Videos (die letztendlich entscheidender ist), also inkl. Audiospuren. Wenn allerdings die maximale Bitrate des Videostreams deutlich über die durchschnittliche Gesamtbitrate hinaus geht, kann auch die mit entscheidend sein (z.B. wenn ein Video kurze Szenen hat, die sehr hohe Bitraten benötigen -> super Beispiel ist immer der HBO-Vorspann mit seinem Krieselbild).

Mediainfo zeigt an, dass es nicht mal ein 1080p-Video ist. Es ist ein normales MPG-DVD-Format:

Aktuell nochmal über WLAN abgespielt. Mal läuft es längere Strecken ohne Buffering im VLC. Dann stockt es immer mal wieder alle paar Sekunden.

Mit dem Windows-eigenen Medienplayer scheint es bislang ohne Buffering / Ruckler zu laufen. Eventuell liegt es nicht (nur) am WLAN, sondern (auch) am VLC-Player? Merkwürdig. Dann wäre die Frage, warum?

Das hatte ich ja in #22 schon fast befürchtet. Ansonsten, teste MPC-HC - den nehm ich immer und da gibts solche Probleme nicht. Weitere (sehr rudimentäre) Alternative, die auch keine Probleme mit dem Buffering hat, wäre mpv.

Steck per lan noch einen zusätzlichen WLAN AP für den oberen Stock. Wlan über Stockwerke ist nicht wirklich ratsam
