Hallo leute,
Sorry for not writing in German, my grammar is too bad. I have exactly the same problem as tewes. My board is a Abit KV8 Pro and supports S-ATA 1.5G. My HD161HJ is not recognised at boot-up, only if you alt-ctrl-del your way out of the boot failure message, then go into setup modus, check the bios, get out again and resume the boot process. The SECOND time, the disk is recognised and XP starts up.
I inserted the jumper, but that has no effect. On another forum, I was told about a patch that may help, but I haven't done this yet.

Although I get the feeling that it will just not work. So I am considering of using this Samsung disk in an external bay for backup purposes and use my slightly older Maxtor S-ATA 1.5G instead.
But the patch is interesting.
