In regulären Anwendungen hält der Intel Core Ultra X9 388H dann das, was Intel versprochen hat: Die neue CPU ist die Mischung aus Intel Lunar Lake alias Intel Core Ultra 200V und Intel Arrow Lake als Intel Core Ultra 200H.
In vielen Anwendungen liegt der Neuling in der Regel knapp vor dem Intel Core Ultra 9 285H als Flaggschiff der letzten Generation (mit Ausnahme der 200HX auf Basis des Desktop-Chips), wobei die TDP der direkten Gegenspieler zwar ähnlich, aber nicht 100 Prozent vergleichbar ist.

Lunar Lake lässt Panther Lake definitiv keine Chance, vielmehr blickt Core Ultra 300 zu Apples schnellen M5-Chips und auch Qualcomms Snapdragon X Elite auf. In vielen Testreihen liegen oft nur Desktop-CPUs in Notebook-Gewand – AMDs und Intels HX-Serien – vor dem neuen reinen Notebook-Prozessor, was deutlich macht, wie stark das Panther-Lake-Flaggschiff ist.
Der AI-Test zeigt ebenfalls eine gesteigerte Performance. Im letzten Test wird dabei explizit die NPU genutzt, die bei Core Ultra 300 50 TOPS bietet. Im Test liegt das Ergebnis 25 Prozent über Lunar Lake, diese CPU-Serie bot maximal 48 TOPS.
