I guess, and just clarify what you said about the timelines, it sounds like there is a pushout to some extent on Llano, is that correct? And that you have mentioned that related to yield is that correct? And how is the timeline for Ontario changed or not?
Dirk Meyer
Yes, so first, the timeline for Ontario has changed quite dramatically, we’ll plan to begin shipments to our customers in Q4 for revenue, which is a substantial falling from our prior plant. Meanwhile, we have seen the rate of yield learning below our plants on 32-nanometer, and as a result of the opportunity, frankly that Ontario gives us and the reaction to the yield situation, we've put our engineering resources into creating samples for Ontario supporting ODMs and OEM system designs, while we take a bit more time to work the 32-nanometer yields up the curve.
So the effective change if you will doing our internal plans on Llano amounts to a couple of months.

What's the margin implication there?
Thomas Seifert
We are not here yet to talk about margins for 2011, but right now we are also not in a position to make any steps back from the long-term guidance we had in mind. As Dirk mentioned, Llano will still come in the first half of next year, and the pull-in potential that we generate with Ontario is quite significant.

You know clearly there is share implications if Llano becomes qualitatively delayed from our expectations which is now what we are seeing today.
More importantly, AMD said that the Llano chip is due in 2011, no changes in the roadmap.
Our strong roadmap for 2010 is scheduled to be followed with the advent of “Fusion” and the first Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) codenamed “Llano,” in 2011.
Normaler Lernprozess - keine Yield Probleme.Krishna Shankar - ThinkEquity LLC
Okay, and my second question is on the 32-nanometer yield challenges. Is that an SOI 32-nanometer high-k/metal gate process and other sort of changes being implemented there to improve the yields or is it just the learning curve?
Dirk Meyer
It is SOI high-k/metal gate as we have announced previously and yeah sure there are process tweaks that we make all along as we climb our way up the yield curve and up the learning curve.
Krishna Shankar - ThinkEquity LLC
But there was no sort of dramatic change in the process architecture, gate first, gate last and things like that.
Dirk Meyer
No. No, no these are just the kind of the standard yield learnings that one encounters as one introduces a new technology.
informal schrieb:And the process node troubles can be dealt in time,it's just a learning curve.Dirk also said that in just the last couple of weeks they made great progress with the yields on the 32nm node,so I'd expect by the end of the year they will hit close or relatively close to the mark they would be comfortable with when it comes to yields.
Aus dem xbitlab Link - was die Leute erwarten ist doch nicht das selbe was AMD ankündigt.Earlier it was expected that AMD will start to ship its Llano accelerated processing units (APUs) for revenue already in Q4 2010 with official product launch taking place sometime very early in 2011.
ambiguos=mehrdeutigThe big news with Llano is that it is being delayed by a “couple of months” and will be released in the rather ambiguous time frame of 1H 2011. The reason for the delay was the company acknowledging problems with the learning curve for GloFo’s new 32nm SOI HKMG process technology.
Even as he informed the press that Llano could ship as much as six months behind schedule, Meyer made a point of noting that the company's next-generation Ontario processor will ship for revenue beginning in Q4 of 2010. Up until now, Ontario wasn't expected until later in 2011; AMD has neatly swapped the positions of the two products.
He said that AMD expected Ontario to be the first Fusion product to come to market, will ship in the fourth quarter of this year, ahead of schedule.
Dies ändert nicht die nach aussen kommunizierten Erscheinungs Zeiträume die immer mit H1 2011 kommuniziert wurden.AMD announced on the call that Ontario will begin shipping to OEMs in Q4 of this year, while Llano will be internally delayed for a couple of months.
Nur keiner wird in der Lage sein irgendwo einen Satz aufzutreiben wo AMD Llano jemals irgendwann früher auf den Markt bringen wollte.but said it would delay the shipment of its high-end 32 nanometer Llano chips to the first half of 2011.
Nein.

The milestones or timeline for Fusion for volume, I know you’re sampling to a couple of customers now, but as we think about the big volume opportunity in Fusion, is that something that occurs late this year or is it a 2011 event? If you could help me understand that, I’d appreciate it.
Derrick Meyer
We’ll ramp production in the second half and you’ll see platforms in the market early in the first half of next year.
Thomas Seifert
We do not provide guidance beyond 2010 beyond what we indicated on our financial analyst day. You have to keep in mind that 32-nanometer impact on gross margin will be a January 2011 event from what Derrick just outlined.
We’ll ramp production in the second half and you’ll see platforms in the market early in the first half of next year.
So viel sollte eigentlich bekannt. HfWU.Kenny schrieb:"This looks to me like Bulldozer could issue up to the equivalent of eight x86 ops per cycle, if its accelerate mode kicks in."
