Firefox benötigt viel RAM / sehr langsam

Ich habe das Problem daß mein Firefox Browser sehr viel RAM benötigt und nach einiger Zeit sehr langsam wird.

Als RAM verbrauch wird dann immer mehr wie 1GB angegeben (5-10Tabs). Wenn ich den Browser wieder neu starte ist der RAM Verbrauch wieder bei ca. 250MB.

Verwende einen Intel Core I5-4570 mit 8GB RAM

Woran könnte dies liegen?

Das liegt daran, dass du mit dem Browser arbeitest. 1 GB ist doch völlig normal, soll der RAM leer bleiben? Habe jetzt auch mit 5 Tabs (1 Video) 890 MB voll.

Das langsame Verhalten muss woanders dran liegen. Bitte etwas mehr beschreiben und mehr Details zu PC und Software. Ein Virenscanner kann z.B. Schuld sein.

Seit wann ist das Problem?

5-10 Tabs - und was sind das für Seiten, welche Inhalte?
Was hast du für Addons laufen?

So "Alltagsmäßig" gibt es eigentlich NICHTS das mehr RAM braucht, als surfen... Insofern...

Der Netzwerk-Cache hat nichts mit dem RAM-Verbrauch zu tun. Der liegt auf der Festplatte und macht das Surfen schneller.

Sehr hoher RAM-Verbrauch liegt meistens an Add-ons mit Speicherleck, oder halt komplexen Webseiten. Gegen letztere kann man nicht viel machen.

Nur andersrum: Schalte jeweils ein AddOn ab und teste dann den Speicherverbrauch.

Wenn man es genau wissen will: unter about:memory auf "Measure" und dann unter "add-ons" bzw. "window-objects" nach ungewöhnlich großen Werten suchen.
Vorher den Browser natürlich etwas verwenden, sonst würden leaks nicht auffallen.

erformance sind ja zwei tolle Infoseiten. Danke für die Tipps. Gibts da noch mehr davon? Wenn man ganz allgemein nach Performance-Tools/Probleme beim Firefox sucht, dann findet man leider viele Infos, die nur in älteren Versionen des Browsers funktioniert haben.

Hmm, an add-ons liegt es nicht. Die Webseiten brauchen generell recht viel Speicher. Sind die Grafikkarten-Treiber aktuell? Könnte mir vorstellen, dass der Bowser sehr viel in Software macht, da die Hardwarebeschleunigung nicht richtig will. Bei mir haben die Seiten insgesamt weniger Verbrauch.
