In einem der letzten updates kam hinzu das wfc nicht mit erhöhten Rechten startet. Das nervt einfach.
Wie kann man einstellen, das wfc so wie früher immer mit erhöten Rechten startet?

Damit funktioniert bei starten des PCs, der automatische Start von wfs nicht mehr.

Mich nervt das neue Verhalten auch. Ich möchte nicht nach jedem Rechnerstart erhöhte Rechte für WFC anfordern müssen. Alle Möglichkeiten (Aufgabenplanung, Autostart mit erhöhten Rechten) funktionieren leider nicht. So werde ich weiterhin eine ältere Version verwenden.

Ich möchte einfach, dass das Tool wie gehabt funktioniert, ohne dass ich nach jedem Neustart daran denken muss, den Button für die erhöhten Rechte zu drücken. In der Theorie weiß ich, wie ich das auf Windows-Ebene konfigurieren muss, damit es mit Adminrechten startet, aber kein mir bekannter Weg funktioniert mit diesem Tool...

Hatte mich an Bisoft deswegen gewand und die meinten es mußte so umgestellt werden und hat mir auch diesen Link geschickt.
Hier mal der Text aus der Mail:

Starting with version 6.25, you need administrative privileges to perform any task which normally would require administrative privileges when you perform them from Windows Firewall directly. Half colored tray icon means read only mode. In the past, the tray app could be used even by a standard user account to create new firewall rules or to change Windows Firewall state. This is not possible anymore due to security concerns. Therefore, the software needs elevated privileges before performing such actions. Request elevation will provide administrative privileges to the wfcUI.exe process, after you confirm it in the UAC prompt. Once you are done with your changes, you can keep the tray process elevated, or you could Remove elevation to reduce the attack vector. By executing without administrative privileges, the tray application is harmless. It is just in read-only mode. Check the tray icon right click context menu.


I also use an admin account. However, everything which I run on my machine will have the same privileges as my user account, including malware. There is a difference between executing a process under your admin account and elevating the process with the confirmation from the UAC prompt. The security tokens are different. In first case, the malware can act like it was you. In the second case, the malware can't fake that it got the UAC approval without the user actually allow it on purpose. This is why, even with an admin account, you have to request elevation for wfcUI.exe tray.


Why this change? Because security researchers are targeting WFC and I have no other solution than to patch any security problem, even if this comes in contradiction with the past WFC versions where the convenience had priority. Unfortunately, this is something which had to change. Security needs to be prioritized over convenience.


In the notification dialog, pressing Request elevation will not create any new rule. The process will be restarted after the UAC prompt is confirmed and the previously notifications will be restored.


There are a few options:


1. You can try this workaround which I explained below on how to start wfcUI.exe with elevated privileges through Task Scheduler:

By design, the OS does not automatically launch shortcuts set with Run this program as an administrator because that implies an UAC prompt, which during startup is not displayed. If you use Start automatically at user logon from Options tab make sure Run this program as an administrator is not checked in the shortcut. If you decide to use a scheduled task, make sure both checkboxes mentioned here are unchecked. If you can't access the forum, you can search online how to auto elevate a process through Task Scheduler.


If you decide to use the Task Scheduler approach, it is important to:


- not have Run this program as an administrator checked in the shortcut because this is not allowed by the OS for auto starting programs.


- uncheck Start automatically at user logon from WFC Options tab.


2. You can also try to define a global shortcut to toggle elevation mode from the Options tab. This works really fast and you have to do it only once.


3. Use version 6.24.0.0 and do not update to a newer version. However, I would not recommend this option even if it may be more convenient.


I hope this helps and I hope you understand the reason why these changes were implemented. Anyway, make sure that Run this program as an administrator is never checked in the file Properties dialog of wfcUI.exe.

Komischerweise hat ds auch erst nach dem 5. Start v Windoof funktioniert...

Anscheinend nicht.
Aber ich ergänze mal die Frage: Aus welcher Quelle stammt denn der Installer?
Schließlich wird die App über Malwarebytes nicht mehr zum Download angeboten. 🤷‍♂️

@cartridge_case Binisoft ist natürlich nicht Malwarebytes.
Aber wenn die gut funktioniert, wäre es für den Fragesteller vielleicht angebracht diese Version mal zu testen.

Ist auch die Frage, ob und wie die Software weiter entwickelt wird.
Lt. gemini Pro ist diese Funktion in die Hauptsoftware integriert worden und deshalb nicht mehr einzeln auf deren Website erhältlich.

Ging ja nur um die Quelle. Da gibt es ja genügend. Heise hat es doch auch. Und die Version ist nicht anders.

Binisoft ist natürlich nicht Malwarebytes.

Ah - Danke! - Lt. gemini wurde Binisoft 2018 von Malwarebytes übernommen.
Reichlich intransparent, wie ich finde.
Normalerweise sollte man stutzig werden, wenn eine Marke von einer anderen Firma genutzt wird - und das Mutterhaus in dem Fall die Software von ihrer Seite "verbannt" hat.
