Hey guys,
I hope everyone is good,
I just wanted to do a quick post to let you guys know that last night me and Lewis played Forza 5 on the new Xbox One and it was absolutely terrible! Since I have been part of SMS and Pcars, I analyse every aspect of any other racing game. One, to see what the competition is like and two, to see if I can learn anything from the game, which we could then improve and add into Pcars.
So last night we only spent 15 to 20 mins on the game, but it was more than enough to get a feel for it. It has quite a good concept, which I like with the presenters from Top Gear explaining in detail about the cars you are going to drive etc with the gamer being able to look around the car etc. There is quite a lot of videos and cool animations, which is what I did like as I am also a big fan of animations as I think it gives a more realistic feel of the atmosphere and surroundings.
This all being said, as soon as you get to driving the car, it all goes down hill. It seems that they have spent more time creating the cool animations and concept than they have actually developing the physics of the cars themselves. So obviously the game has to be playable using a Pad, which is what we were using, but even then it felt really unrealistic, with a crazy amount of grip and a lot of laziness when turning, with no realistic feeling of the car moving around. It just felt like an Arcade game to me, I have never been a fan of Forza and this game just makes me dislike it even more. The first thing I noticed when I watched Lewis drive his first couple of corners was the unrealistic animation of the driver shifting up with paddle shift on the wheel. If you get chance to have a look at a video or whatever, you will see what I mean with the hand animation being way too 'over the top'.
Anyway, I just thought I would just give you guys a heads up about the game. Pcars is on another planet in comparison. I was just playing it to get some more ideas, but there is nothing we can actually learn from it.
Im back home on Wednesday, so I will see you guys then.
Nic
