Hello,
Thanks for your enquiry.
1. Just considering the cooling performance, the VF700 can lower the temperatures of VGA chip and RAM about 7~10℃ than the stock cooler. However, as you can see, when the VF700 is mounted on the card, the FHS may interfere with some parts, like a case . But, if the case is just a normal mid tower case, that may be O.K. Vise versa, the compact cases should have the interference problem. For sure, you need to double check if some other parts in the case touch the FHS.

2. As you see the below, the VGA chipset of the 6600 GT AGP is located on the unusual spot, upper side, compared with the 6600GT PCle. Therefore, its installation might be structurally unstable because most of the pressure may be added on the edge of the card not the center.

Further more, a heatsink for the HSI is inevitable to cool. If you don't have it on the card, the VF700 shouldn't be used.
For these reasons, we can't dare to say that the VF700 series is 100% compatible with the 6600 GT AGP even if this model has many good points. So, it is up to customers. Sorry for not giving you the clear answer but this is the situation we have here.
Best regards,
Support/ Zalman
