Hi,
i bought the new ASUS Monitor MG279Q, IPS Panel, 144 Hz, 27" with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels.
When playing in 16:9 and the default resolution, the 144 Hz works fine. (Though my FPS near smokes drop A LOT ~300 to 120 with one smoke, with multiple smokes they can drop to 40-50- but well thats not what i want to ask here)
When I try to play 4:3 stretched, i change the resolution to 4:3 ingame. It will then do blackbars. I didnt change any graphic card settings when getting the new monitor, but when i had my prior monitor it would immediately do 4:3 stretched when i just selected it in cs:go.
I changed one setting in the ATI Catalyst Control Center and now CS:GO changes to 4:3 stretched aswell. BUT, my Refresh Rate goes down to 60 Hz when i play the highest possible Resolution, which is 1856x1392 pixels. If i then chose the 4:3 resolution of 1600x1200 my Refresh Rate goes up to 119 Hz. In the CS:GO Menu i can even chose 1280x1024 which isnt even 4:3 but 5:4, why is that even possible? But non the less, when i choose 1280x960 (wich is 4:3) my monitor goes up to 144 Hz.
And this leaves me without knowing what to do. How to play the highest possible resolution with 144 Hz, because it should be possible. The monitor itself still runs at 2560x1440 the whole time I guess.
It is connected by DisplayPort - since it can deliver 144Hz at 2560x1440 lower resolutions shouldnt be a problem.
Anyone has any ideas?
Thanks for your help!
