"I can confirm that the AMDA00 Inteface driver by ASUS is in fact defective. Even in Windows 7, it does not work properly under some conditions. I spent many hours tracking this down thinking it was a problem with the Authentec AES2550 driver (as the long delays at boot up would start as soon as I installed that driver--which is required by my fingerprint reader). Finally, after checking the event logs, I discovered the true villain was in fact the AMDA00 Interface, which began failing (causing the timeout delays at startup) after AuthenTec AES2550 driver was installed. After disabling this device, all of the problems went away AND my fingerprint reader began working (which it had not been previously).
I'm emailing ASUS (and Zvetco tech support, whom I'd already contacted) as soon as I'm done here.
It's not just you, and it's not Windows or your install, it's THAT driver. Disable the device (in device manager) until they fix it.
