Bootdisk für mandrake 8.0

hi.kann mir wer bitte verraten,wie ich Mandrake 8.0 NUR von Disk booten lassen kann??Ohne das es sich in meinem Bootmanager,wo schon 98+2000 ist,einschreibt??Macht man die Disk irgendwie extra oder hat man die möglichkeit,sowas während der install festzulegen?
Eine partie mit Swap habe ich schon eingerichtet,nun traue ich mich bloss nicht ,MD zu installen,weil ich angst habe,das es meinen booty killt!!

Also ich kenne es von Redhat und Suse her so, das es die Auswahl möglichkeit gibt, Lilo (so heist der Bootmanager) nicht zu instalieren... bzw nicht in den MBR von deiner PRimary HDD!

Stimmt, bei RedHat und SuSE gibt es die Option "KEINEN BOOTMANGER INSTALLIERN", dann kann man entweder von Disk booten, oder Linux in den eigenen Bootmanger integrieren.
Eine andere Variante wäre es, den MBR vorher zu sichern, Linux installieren (mit Bootmanager) und anschließend den alten MBR zurückspielen.

wird man denn bei LINUX während der install nach dem "wo-der -booty-hin-soll "gefragt??
oder wo stellt man das ein??
esvsoll wohl sowas auch in MD 8.0 geben,wenn man während des install in den EXpertmodus wechselt!!da soll man was einstellen können.Bloss auch per Disk-booten??

ich kann hier leider nur für SuSE sprechen, da gehts.
Aber wenn Mandrake einen Experten-Install-Modus besitzt sollte es dort eigentlich möglich sein Mandrake ohne Bootmanager zu installieren

hab auf http://www.mandrake.org/ mal ne Weile gesucht und folgendes gefunden

You may also be given the chance to create a ``standard boot disk'', which you can use to boot your newly-installed Linux system. (This is an older and slightly less convenient method which assumes that you will normally boot DOS, but use the boot disk to start Linux.)

For this you will need a blank, high-density MS-DOS formatted diskette of the type that you boot with on your system. Simply insert the disk when prompted and a boot diskette will be created. (This is not the same as an installation bootdisk, and you can't substitute one for the other!)

und folgendes

Continue till the point where you’re asked where to install LILO, the Linux boot loader.

The next two steps are very important. Don’t choose the Master Boot Record in this step; instead choose the first sector of the root partition. And when prompted to create a Boot Disk, do so. I can’t stress this point enough. Create the Boot Disk right now, or you may not be able to access your Linux installation without reinstalling it.


also wenn dich das Installproggy fragt, wo LiLo hin muß, dann packe LiLo auf deine Root-Partition und !!! NICHT !!! auf den MBR. Danach mußt du ne Diskette einlegen und es wird ne Bootdisk erstellt

astrein!!danke,das du dir so mühe gemachst hast,und das rausgesucht hast!!
noch mal was doofes:hat MD nich den GRUB dabei???und SUSE den LILO???aber das dürfte ja egal sein,wie der nun heisst!!!ich habe sowieso nur die PC-Welt-CD,aber MD was einfach so schön,das ich es unbedingt wiederhaben will!!sogar das DSL ging!!leider will es nich die SB 128 PCI,findet aber seltsamerweise die Onboardkarte,obwohl im BIOS deaktiviert!!das reicht ja auch erst einmal!!
