Gainward stellt CoolFX vor - Wakü für GeForce FX

Erste Gerüchte über wassergekühlte GeForce FX Karten gehen bis in den November des letzten Jahres zurück. Doch auf der CeBIT2003 waren dann auch erste Studien zu begutachten. Gainward hat nun ihre CoolFX offiziell vorgestellt.

Die Wasserkühlung besteht aus einem kompletten Set aus fünf Kühlblöcken für GPU und RAM, einer Drive Bay (Radiator, Ausgleichbehälter, Pumpe) für den 5 1/4" Slot und den nötigen Schläuchen. Das System soll ab Mitte Mai sowohl im Bundle mit zukünftigen Gainward FX PowerPack! 3D Karten als auch separat im Handel erhältlich sein. Einzeln kostet das CoolFX laut Gainward "unter 200€". Der Lieferumfang enthält darüber hinaus die Software Gainward“s EXPERTool™, die das Übertakten der Grafikkarte zu einem Kinderspiel werden lassen soll. Gainward gibt an, mit der CoolFX auf der CeBIT2003 eine "FX PowerPack! Model Ultra/1000 Plus “Golden Sample“" stabil auf 580MHz Chiptakt übertaktet zu haben.

Obwohl Gainward uns gegenüber davon sprach, dass der CoolFX nur auf ihre eigenen Karten passen werde, gehen wir davon aus, dass das System mit jeder Karte der Serie GeForce FX 5800 Ultra kooperieren kann. Schließlich verwenden eigentlich alle Hersteller nVidias Referenzdesign. Insgesamt dürfte der CoolFX eh nur für eine verschwindend geringer Käuferzahl interessant sein. Preis von Kühlung und Grafikkarte tragen ihr Übriges zu diesem Umstand bei.

Gainward Co., Ltd, the leading manufacturer of high performance 3D graphics and home entertainment accelerators, announces that it will offer a liquid cooling solution for its next generation Gainward FX PowerPack! 3D graphics processor products based on NVIDIA“s GeForce FX technology. The Gainward CoolFXTM will include highly heat conductive pure metal alloy cooling blocks for the GPU as well as for the high performance memory modules.

The Gainward CoolFXTM will keep the GPU and the high performance memory mod-ules of a 3D graphics processor board near to ambient temperature levels in order to run stable at up to 25 % faster clock rates resulting in up to 25 % better 3D performance. At CeBIT2003 Gainward demonstrated a Gainward FX PowerPack! Model Ultra/1000 Plus “Golden Sample“ running stable in excess of 580 MHz core clock speed.

So far Gainward“s EXPERTool™ performance tuning utility offered “enhanced clock settings“ guaranteed by Gainward to run “Golden Sample“ products significantly faster compared to competitive products merely based on reference design. By utiliz-ing liquid cooling Gainward will once again push performance to levels beyond your imagination.

The Gainward Cool™ FX will be available in May 2003 for less then € 200 including VAT to run on Gainward“s next generation Gainward FX PowerPack! products.
