SilverStone Raven Z im Test: Ein attraktives Konzept für Mini-ITX

Um mit dem Hardware-Einbau beginnen zu können, müssen zunächst die zwei Brackets aus dem Raven Z entnommen werden. Anschließend hat es sich bewährt, zuerst das SFX-Netzteil und, sofern benötigt, die 3,5"-Festplatte einzubauen. Letztere kann nämlich nur mit dem Bracket verschraubt werden, wenn dieses ausgebaut ist. Andernfalls sind die Schrauben unzugänglich. Apropos unzugänglich: Um das Netzteil-Bracket überhaupt lösen zu können, ist ein langer Schraubendreher vonnöten.
Als Nächstes sollte die Hauptplatine folgen, damit die PCIe-Riser-Karte später reibungslos zusammen mit der Grafikkarte und dem dazugehörigen Träger eingesetzt werden kann. Bei diesem Schritt erwies sich die PCIe-Riser-Karte bei der von uns verwendeten Hardware als zu kurz, sodass wir sie von den zwei Schrauben, die sie am Träger binden, lösen mussten. Andernfalls hätte sie nicht vollständig in die PCIe-Steckbank des Mini-ITX-Mainboards eingesteckt werden können. Daher ist dringend dazu geraten, zweimal hinzuschauen, ob die Verlängerungskarte fest eingerastet ist.
Das Raven Z bietet zwar keine direkte Möglichkeit für ein Kabelmanagement, dennoch lassen sich die kurzen Kabelstränge der Stromversorgung gut und ohne störend zu wirken verlegen. Unter Zuhilfenahme einiger Kabelbinder (von denen unüblicherweise keine im Lieferumfang enthalten sind) ist ein noch ansprechenderes Bild möglich.



Die maximale Höhe des Prozessorkühlers beträgt ohne vorinstallierten Seitenlüfter 86 mm, die Grafikkarte darf eine Länge von 335 mm nicht überschreiten. Da die Abmessungen von SFX-Netzteilen weitestgehend genormt sind, gibt es hier keine Einschränkungen.

Messergebnisse
Der Testdurchlauf des SilverStone Raven Z wurde im vertikalen Stand und ohne Staubfilter durchgeführt. Wie vom Hersteller vorgesehen, wurden dafür die vier beiliegenden Standfüße an den Seitenwänden angebracht.

SilverStones Slimline-Lüfter sind im 5-Volt-Betrieb mit durchschnittlich 32,9 Dezibel und 700 Umdrehungen pro Minute leise. Während des Tests gaben sie darüber hinaus kein Rattern oder sonstige Störgeräusche von sich.
Sobald die Ventilatoren mit voller Umdrehungszahl laufen, machen sie sich jedoch deutlich bemerkbar. 38,6 Dezibel im Durchschnitt wirken sich definitiv störend auf das Raumklima aus. Für den Spielebetrieb sind die Werte allerdings noch akzeptabel.
Die Festplattenentkopplung gelingt trotz fehlender Entkopplungsmechanismen gut, sodass keine störenden Resonanzen am Gehäuse festzustellen sind. Dennoch ist der Datenträger als solches deutlich aus den vielen Öffnungen des Raven Z herauszuhören.

Die wahren Fähigkeiten des Raven Z kommen schließlich bei der Temperaturmessung zum Vorschein. Das Small-Form-Faktor-Gehäuse schafft es trotz seiner geringen Baugröße und des hohen Aufgebots an wärmeintensiver Hardware, die Abwärme spielend leicht in Schach zu halten. So wird der Prozessor bei langsam drehenden Lüftern nicht wärmer als 45 °C. Unter voll anliegender Spannung von 12 Volt sinkt die Temperatur auf 37 °C.
Besonders die Grafikkarte profitiert vom direkt anliegenden Gehäuselüfter, der sie mit frischer Luft umsorgt. Sie wird bei anliegenden 5 Volt nicht wärmer als 67 °C, bei voller Umdrehungszahl der Ventilatoren kann der Pixelbeschleuniger sogar auf 54 °C heruntergekühlt werden.
Ähnlich gut schneiden Mainboard- und Festplattentemperatur mit maximal 37 beziehungsweise 32 °C ab. Für ein Gehäuse dieser Größenordnung und den stark begrenzten Platz sind die Temperaturen als sehr gut zu bewerten, und durch einen weiteren 120-mm-Lüfter, der sich optional einbauen lässt, können sie nochmals verbessert werden.
