Makulu-Linux verweigert Änderung des Desktop-Hintergrunds

Habe mir Makulu-Linux fest auf die Festplatte installiert (also nicht als USB-Filesystem).

Nun wollte ich mir aus dem Menü von Makulu ein anderes Desktop-Hintergrundbild wählen.

Bei Ubuntu, Suse-Linux und Windows, geht dies einwandfrei und problemlos zu handhaben.
Aber Makulu wehrt sich mit Händen und Füssen gegen den Wechsel.
Wähle ich ein neues Wallpapers aus, so wechselt Makulu das Bild nach wenigen Sekunden, und stellt den alten Zustand wieder her.
Und dies, obwohl es die eigenen Wallpapers sind, also keine importierten.
Ich sehe in dem Auswahlfenster allerdings auch kein Icon zum Speichern der Änderung.

Hat einer eine Idee, woran dies liegen könnte, und wie ich doch noch zu meinem neuen Hintergrundbild komme?

Makulu Cinnamon edition sports some beautiful wallpapers, I have updated the selection to include some new fresh colorful options . Makulu Makes use of variety wallpaper changer to change the wallpaper, if you prefer to manually control your wallpaper, you will need to disable Variety.
